P11D Value Calculator

Work out the P11D value of a car by adding the list price, delivery charge, and optional extras, then subtracting any capital contribution you make.

Factory options, metallic paint, upgraded wheels, etc.

Any one-off payment you make towards the car — reduces P11D for tax.

Frequently asked questions

What is P11D value?

P11D value is the list price of a car including VAT, delivery charges, and any optional extras — minus any capital contribution from the employee. HMRC uses this figure to calculate the taxable benefit (BIK) of a company car. The name comes from form P11D, which employers use to report benefits in kind.

Does P11D include road tax and registration?

No. P11D value excludes the first year's vehicle excise duty (VED/road tax) and the DVLA registration fee. It also excludes any government plug-in grants that have been applied to reduce the price.

What counts as an optional extra?

Any factory-fitted or dealer-fitted option that increases the car's price: metallic paint, upgraded alloy wheels, premium sound systems, larger batteries (on EVs), advanced driver assistance packs, tow bars, and roof rails. Standard equipment included in the list price is already captured.

How does a capital contribution reduce my tax?

A one-off capital contribution (up to £5,000) reduces the P11D value used for BIK calculations, lowering your annual tax bill. For example, contributing £3,000 on a car with a 2% BIK rate reduces the taxable benefit by £60/year, saving a higher-rate taxpayer £24/year in tax.
